The detailed design phase has resulted in improvements to the overall design layout with the old entrance building now being demolished and a new office constructed at the west end of the ablution block.
The project and budget of $2.2m was approved in late June 2012, through the Long Term Plan process.
As at May 2013 - Demolition has been completed. Earthworks and foundations are currently under construction for the two pools and new office building. Over the next couple of months the pool floor slabs will be poured, work started for the upgraded changing rooms and pool plant rooms. The new pools are on track to arrive in Wellington in June.
The current timeline for the project is:
- December – Consent and ROI for construction released
- Late February – Letting of the 3 construction contracts
- Late February/March 2013 – Demolition and Construction commences
- October to November – Commissioning and testing
- November – Pool opens for the 2013-14 season
