Lime is in regular contact with us on their scooters including providing information on the recent technical updates which they advise have addressed the issues reported in Auckland.
Since Lime e-scooters were introduced to Lower Hutt in December last year the Hutt City Council has received sixty complaints, none of which have related to this technical issue, however we continue to closely monitor reported incidents.
The permit issued to Lime scooters to operate in Lower Hutt runs through until 30 November however if safety issues do arise as per those experienced in Auckland we will review the conditions of the permit and may look to suspend it. A full report is being prepared for our Council detailing all complaints received by Hutt City Council and the actions taken by Lime to address concerns.
120k+ trips have been taken across the Hutt Valley (Lower and Upper Hutt) with 34k+ local users and 200k+ kilometres ridden since the introduction of e-scooters in December.
