Dowse Square

The water at the Dowse Square taps comes from the Waiwhetu Aquifer, a natural underground water system located beneath the Hutt Valley and Wellington Harbour.

Water treatment

Aquifer water goes through a natural filtration process underground. Before the water comes out of the taps it goes through a filtration and UV-treatment process on-site to make sure that it is safe to drink.

Type of supply

Taps for filling bottles and containers. There is no limit on how many containers you fill, but please be mindful of others who are filling up at the same time.

Te Puna Wai Ora

The water at Te Puna Wai Ora comes from the Waiwhetu Aquifer, a natural underground water system located beneath the Hutt Valley and Wellington Harbour.

Waiwhetu

Riverside Drive, Waiwhetu

This public artesian well was opened by Te Runanganui o te Atiawa at Waiwhetu Marae in 2020.

The water at the Waiwhetu taps comes from the Waiwhetu Aquifer, a natural underground water system under the Hutt Valley and Wellington Harbour.
