Hutt City Council has a statutory responsibility to manage risks from natural hazards, including flooding. Stormwater modelling is one of the tools we use to help assess and manage flooding hazards. This helps your planning when subdividing land or designing new developments, for example in deciding the minimum floor levels needed to reduce flooding risks.

As part of reviewing the District Plan we have engaged Wellington Water to update Lower Hutt's stormwater model to reflect the latest guidance from the Ministry for the Environment and the latest climate change predictions from NIWA.

You can see Wellington Water's modelling, FAQs and contact for more information here.
