The Little Theatre is temporarily closed to allow for asbestos removal.

The asbestos was discovered during a routine replacement of carpet in the foyer. The area was immediately sectioned off and there has been no risk to staff or the public before or since the discovery.

The site will remain completely sealed while removal of the asbestos gets underway following a planned work programme approved by Worksafe NZ.

It is estimated the Theatre will reopen after 13 July. Updates on the timeline will be made available as work progresses.

HCC is assisting with alternative venues for those who have booked the Little Theatre during this period.
