ROAD CLOSURES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Updated: 12.57pm, 16/02/23

  • Riverbank Carpark is now open
  • The Wainuiomata River has breached its banks in a number of places along Coast Road, and there are a few minor slips but none currently impacting road access
  • There is surface flooding on  Marine Drive
  • A section of the river trail has begun eroding due to higher river levels. Greater Wellington Regional Council representatives are on site placing concrete blocks and fencing. Cyclists and walkers will be diverted until this has been fixed.
  • There were three minor landslips during the night

Please continue to take extra caution on the roads and avoid unnecessary travel. If you have any urgent flooding, slip, or weather related reports to make, please call us on (04) 570 6666.

If your enquiry is non-urgent, please report it via hutt.city/rap until we are through the worst of the weather so that the phone lines are available for the most urgent problems. This will help our teams quickly get to where they're needed most.

Last night was a great reminder of the importance of having plans in place for earthquakes, flooding, and severe weather, as well as preparing grab bags in case they are ever needed. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates, and be sure to regularly check the WREMO and MetService pages for other important info.

MetService updates can be found here.

WREMO has information on how to prepare here.
