Hutt City Council has approved the use of three active lane closures as part of the Tupua Horo Nuku Project, this is now in effect. These changes will significantly bring forward the project’s completion date, meaning less overall disruption for the community. Several measures are in place to ensure disruptions are kept to a minimum. We look forward to opening Tupua Horo Nuku in 2026, improving the resilience of Marine Drive and providing a new shared pathway for all to enjoy. Traffic ManagementTupua Horo Nuku requires temporary lane closures to ensure there’s space for the team to safely and efficiently work on the seawall and shared path. Construction is ongoing in Ngau Matau/Point Howard, Sorrento Bay, Whiorau/Lowry Bay, and Māhina Bay. Within these sections, the specific locations of work can vary depending on construction progress, weather, and tides. This affects the size and positioning of lane closures across the Eastern Bays. From Monday to Friday, construction activity may occur from 7:30am to 6pm, and on Saturday from 7:30am to 4pm. Site establishment or disestablishment, and quiet activities may occur outside of these hours. Until works are completed, all sites have a 30 kmph speed limit in place.
