You can enrol as a resident if you:
- are 18 years old (If you're 17 you can apply now. When you turn 18, you will be automatically enrolled and ready to vote)
- are a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident
- have lived in New Zealand continuously for 12 months or more, at some point in your life
If you’re enrolled to vote in the parliamentary elections, you’re also automatically enrolled for Council elections.

How to enrol as a non-resident ratepayer
