City Link Bridge

Connecting the city, the river and public transport

The City Link Bridge is a new pedestrian and cycle bridge that will connect the relocated Melling train station directly with Lower Hutt city centre.

As part of Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi, the bridge will support easier movement, bring more people into the city centre, and help reconnect the river with everyday life.

Benefits

The City Link Bridge will:

  • provide a safe and direct walking and cycling route between Margaret St and the new Melling train station
  • support increased use of public transport
  • build a stronger connection between the city and our river
  • encourage more people to visit and spend time in the city centre

Our goal is to deliver a bridge the city can be proud of, while providing good value for our ratepayers.
