Mayoralty - (1 Vacancy)

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I am also standing for Council - At Large.

Lower Hutt needs bold, experienced leadership that will turn the challenges facing our city into opportunities that see us thrive.

As Mayor I will ensure we do the basics better, boost local businesses, and build stronger communities. With six years experience as a city councillor and 20 years running local businesses means I know how to bring people together, make tough calls, and get things done.

I genuinely love this city. That’s why I've built my businesses and raised my family here. My daughter is my inspiration, and I know that with the right leadership we can shape a city future generations will thank us for.

Let’s make Lower Hutt a place where there is value in every ratepayer dollar spent. Where our local businesses flourish, and we have vibrant, connected communities. Let’s do this together. See my plan at www.dyer.nz

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I’m the son of Samoan migrants who settled in Wainuiomata, raised to value service, hard work, and community. From policing to sports broadcasting to civic leadership, I’ve built trust across the Hutt Valley.

As Mayor, I’ll lead a Council that listens and acts on what matters. I believe in unity in action - bringing people together across communities, backgrounds, and beliefs to get things done.

It’s clear the Council is doing a lot but like someone who knows how important it is to make every dollar count I’ll undertake a full review of Council spending.

Ensuring we are focused on core infrastructure, bringing down costs where possible, and demonstrate value for money. I’ll also back local businesses and focus on unlocking new funding streams to reduce pressure on ratepayers.

I’ll prioritise safer communities with better lighting, youth spaces, and improved CCTV.

I respectfully ask for your support - www.kenlaban.com

Kia ora koutou katoa, I am currently a Hutt City Councillor. Throughout my career I have held senior governance and leadership positions, including being Principal of Taita College for seven years.

Serving my community has always been a driver for me. With my inclusive leadership approach, I will progress the changes needed for our success. I am known for acting with integrity, consulting widely, listening and getting things done.

What I offer is big picture leadership that actively considers the future, when planning and aligning our actions. I have considerable life experience, business acumen and a proven record of delivery, (see my website).

What is important; Social Cohesion: connecting people, putting people first. Businesses: fostering strong local productivity, meaningful employment. Creating a Collaborative Strategic Vision: where diverse voices are heard. Lower Hutt deserves the best.

As your Mayor, I will have the authority to make things happen!

Tēnā koutou katoa; Ināianei, he kaikaunihera au o Te Awa Kairangi. Kua hāpaitia ngā tūranga hautūtanga, ārahitanga hoki: ko tētāhi hei tumuaki o Taita Kāreti mō te whitu tau. Ko te āwhina i te hapori taku tino whakarika. He kaiarataki kauawhi au, ka whakakipakipatia ngā hurihanga kia eke panuku. Kua rangona he pono, he whānui, he wherawhera āku mahi, tāku whakarongo, tāku mahinga atu. Ko tāku he ārahitanga whānui e whakaarotia ai te āpōpō, ina hoahoatia, whakahāngaitia ai ngā mahi. He whānui ōku wheako, āheinga umanga—tae ana ki te whakaoti mahi (tirohia taku paetukutuku). Mea matua; Kotahitanga pāpori: honohono tangata, hāpaitia tuatahitia te tangata. Taha Umanga: whakatītina te tōnui ā-rohe, te whiwhi mahi whai tikanga. Waihanga Ngātahi he Tirohanga Rautaki: rangona ai ngā whakaaro kanorau. Inawhai anō kia riro i Te Awa Kairangi ngā painga mokorarahi. Hei Kahika, ka whaimana au kia whakatutuki ai ngā kaupapa!

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I am also standing for Council - At Large. I am standing as an independent candidate for Mayor of Hutt City to bring fresh, effective leadership that listens, respects your money, and delivers results.

A proud resident of nearly 30 years, I’ve raised my family here, built a successful business, and served our communities—work recognised with a Queen’s Service Medal.

I bring 20 years of governance experience, including as Establishment Chair of the Hutt Valley DHB Consumer Council and two terms on the HCC Central Ward Community Panel. I offer sound financial discipline, clear vision, and inclusive decision-making. My priorities are clear, delivering value for money by stopping wasteful spending and conducting an independent financial review.

Fixing our failing infrastructure by prioritising roads, pipes, and reliable public transport. Building connected communities by championing our local arts, sports, and grassroots groups. It’s time to move beyond politics as usual—and lead with purpose, integrity, and action.

The four mayoral candidates participated in a debate on 1 September. You can watch the recording here.

Council - At Large - (5 Vacancies)

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

Kia ora, I’m Sherry Antony. I moved to Lower Hutt in 2011 as a student, built my career as a data specialist, and later started my own small business from scratch. I’ve called Wainuiomata home since 2017.

From my time volunteering with the Petone Community Patrol to running a local business, I’ve always believed in listening, solving problems, and taking action.

I’m standing for Council because I care deeply about our people and places - from fixing old pipes, supporting mental wellbeing, and revitalising the Hutt CBD to making Jackson Street parking easier and keeping Petone Beach clean and welcoming.

Let’s bring common sense, openness, and real local voice back into decision-making. I’ll be there to listen, show up, and make sure your voice is heard - because our community deserves better.

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I am also standing for Mayor. It’s been an absolute privilege to represent our community as a city councillor for a second-term. I’ve worked hard to show up and deliver real results for our city. This includes securing major investments like RiverLink, addressing decades of underinvestment in our water infrastructure, and supporting projects that strengthen our communities.

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but there is more work to do. With my skills, experience and strong leadership, I will help deliver long-term wins so that Lower Hutt continues to be an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family.

I will make sure the council continues to be more transparent and connected with the community, so that people are informed, empowered, and part of every decision. With your support, I look forward to continuing this important mahi.

I’m running for council because residents deserve better: more value for their rates, less waste, and decisions that make life easier. Rates rise, services stretch thin, and local businesses struggle.

With a background in governance, finance, technology, and systems optimization, I bring a pragmatic, detail-oriented approach to deliver real results.

My priorities are clear: zero rate hikes, fiscal accountability, and smarter spending on services that matter.

I’ll champion free CBD parking to boost foot traffic and support local shops. I believe in transparent, data-driven decisions and cutting red tape.

I’m not a career politician—I’m a resident who wants council to get the basics right and listen to the community.

Let’s reset leadership in Hutt City: more action, less bureaucracy, where every dollar counts and every voice is heard. Fearless, Pro-Business , and Community-Driven.

My principal place of residence is not in the Hutt City Council area.

I am a security and technology professional. I lived in Lower Hutt between 2003 and 2020.

Since then, I have been travelling to the Hutt from Kapiti every weekday. I share my time between running my internet company and as a trustee of the Security Noticeboard Charitable Trust.

For the past 7.5 years I have been working with victims of crime in the Hutt Valley community and managing the Hutt Valley security noticeboard (34,500+ members).

I am a renter, a family man and I enjoy working with my hands.

My interest within council is to encourage and promote community co-operation, with a focus on criminal activity. I will also endeavour to find opportunities to reduce council spending and avoid subsequent rate increases.

I have no political association but am affiliated with The Security Noticeboard.

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I’m Semi Kuresa; running for the Hutt City Council, At Large.

For the past three years, I’ve had the honour of serving on the Petone Community Board, representing a suburb fondly viewed as a true destination for local residents, the Hutt Valley and the wider Wellington region.

That experience has strengthened my drive to represent our wider city and serve you and your families. Our people are diverse, our businesses are dynamic and our region is your home.

I want to place communities and their needs at the heart of every decision to help shape the future together.

If elected, I will: Support strong local businesses in the Hutt Valley; Promote accessible community spaces and services for you and your families; Advocate for better public transport options. I’m proud to be part of Hutt City and its people. Semi Kuresa - sdkuresa@gmail.com

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I’m a lifelong Lower Hutt resident and have called Eastbourne home for the past 26 years.

I want to see Lower Hutt thrive, to be a city we can all be proud of, a city we all can enjoy. I run Solved Tech Support and bring over 30 years’ experience in IT, along with the practical skills of a small business owner—problem-solving, budgeting, and working with people from all walks of life.

I understand the challenges faced by local businesses and the importance of practical, forward-thinking solutions for our community. I bring proven advocacy and collaboration skills and experience to the role.

I’m standing to bring common sense, courage, and integrity to local government. It’s clear that people want a council that listens, spends wisely, and delivers real results.

I’m ready to listen, speak up, take action, serve our diverse community, and get things done. Read more at www.suzannelevy.nz

Born and raised in Hutt City, I am proud to still call this vibrant community home.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching at schools across Eastbourne, Wainuiomata, Taita, and Central Hutt. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the unique needs and strengths of our city’s diverse communities.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve served on several Boards of Trustees and local sports club committees, which has strengthened my skills in governance, collaboration, and community leadership.

I’m passionate about making Hutt City a thriving, inclusive place where all residents feel heard and supported. I’m standing for Council because I believe in the power of local voices. I’m committed to practical solutions, inclusive decision-making, and ensuring Hutt City remains a place we’re all proud to call home.

Dirty Politics was used against The Mayor. Internationalist Agendas have Dominated NZ Politics, down to the Local Level. Speed Bumps, Cones and Bike Lanes, but no Direct Road to Wainui. Too Much Divide and Rule Politics. Financialized Economy at the Expense of Local Enterprise and Jobs. Questionable Zoning and Public Service for Bankers, Developers and the Rentier Class. Current Developments seem to Reinforce past Mistakes and Downgrade Existing Property Holdings. Garden City, not Gaza City. Advocate for Smaller Local Banks to Foster Growth.

At College Won Leadership Prize and Academic Prize signed by Mayor Percy Dowse. Prem Rugby. Victoria University, Graduated in Regional and Development Economics, with Mathematics and Accounting. AREINZ Commercial Real Estate, Level Two Playcenter Certificate, Well Qualified Offspring : Six Business Graduates one A+ Masters, Two Civil Engineers one First Class Honours, One Cambridge Graduate plus Medicine.

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I am also standing for Mayor. I am standing as an independent candidate for Hutt City Councillor to bring practical, community-focused leadership and a strong, independent voice to the Council table.

For nearly 30 years, I’ve lived, worked, and served in Hutt City—raising my family, running a successful business, and supporting diverse communities across arts, health, and education.

My grassroots service, recognised with a Queen’s Service Medal, is backed by over 20 years of governance experience, including as Establishment Chair of the Hutt Valley DHB Consumer Council and two terms on the Central Ward Community Panel.

My priorities are clear: stopping wasteful spending by commissioning an independent financial review; fixing our failing infrastructure—roads, pipes, and public transport; and strengthening our communities by supporting arts, libraries, sports, and local groups.

Let’s move beyond politics as usual and focus on putting people at the heart of every decision for Hutt City.

My principal place of residence is in the Hutt City Council area.

I’m deeply committed to our wonderful city and its communities. I was born here and live in Belmont with my family.

I value your support to continue as a councillor. After a financial career in NZ and Washington DC, I became Hutt City Council’s CFO and then chief executive. I’m now a city councillor, a trustee for several charitable organisations, and provide strategic consultancy services. I am a qualified chartered accountant and Institute of Directors member.

Council rates and debt are rising alarmingly yet our infrastructure backlog increases. Council operates at a large loss, and services cost too much. For our residents, businesses and environment to thrive, this must change!

I will keep fighting for smaller rate increases and quality, sustainable services. It is possible through determined leadership with a full financial strategy and cost review. Let’s prioritise what our community values most and do it well. Read more: www.TonyStallinger.nz

Mālō e lelei & Kia Ora. I’m Mele Tonga-Grant, born in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai, and raised in Taitā. For over a decade, I’ve served our communities—supporting Pacific and Youth. My work has always centred on empowering our people, challenging inequities, and creating systems that reflect our values.

I believe in courageous governance that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi, uplifts cultural identity, and creates space for our stories and experiences to shape policy.

I’ve proudly championed Indigenous rights, supported rangatahi leadership, and contributed to governance. I’m passionate about representation, youth voices, community wellbeing, and climate action. I’m committed to ensuring our voices are heard, our cultures are respected, and shaping a future for our mokopuna that honours the dreams and wisdom of our ancestors.

I stand for equity, visibility, and a future led by our communities. Vote Mele Tonga-Grant – for community, culture, and courageous leadership.

Western Ward - (1 Vacancy)

My principal place of residence is in the Western Ward area.

I've lived in the Hutt for most of my life and I love this city. I have the privilege of being deputy chair of the Climate Change and Sustainability Committee and the Councillor for Western Ward at this time.

I gained an Honours Degree in Chemistry through Victoria University and trained as a teacher. I have served as co-president of Hutt Playcentre Association where I learnt to value and use consensus decision-making. I have served on committees as well.

I have chosen to stand again for the Western Ward because I want to see continued progress on key issues, including our approach to climate change and to improve cooperation with other agencies, especially with regional council and our public transport network.

As a local councillor, I hope I will continue to be accessible and represent our community's views to affect meaningful, positive, and long-term change.

Hei kaikaunihera, e tūmanakohia, ka tuwhera taku tatau, ka kawea tirohanga hapori hei hāpai i te huringa whaitake, whaipainga, wā roa hoki.

My principal place of residence is in the Western Ward area.

I am honoured to stand for council in the Western Ward, proudly nominated by Margaret Cousins and Tony Stallinger. As a long-term resident of the Western Hills, I’ve spent decades serving our community with action and accountability—not words.

To date, I have contributed as a member of the Friends of Normandale School, served on the Board of Trustees at Hutt Intermediate, coached schoolboy rugby, and currently sit on the board of The Jackson Street Programme.

My governance experience also includes serving on the national board of a professional body for financial advisers, where I championed ethical, fiscal and strategic policy.

Because The Western Hills, and Lower Hutt needs more execution and less rhetoric, I have decided to stand as your candidate for Hutt City Council at the 2025 elections. I will bring financial discipline, long-term thinking, and a bias for action to every decision.

Harbour Ward - (1 Vacancy)

Over the past two terms as Deputy Mayor, I’ve been proud to help deliver major projects for our city — from the new Te Ngaengae pool to the nearly completed shared pathways, and now the upcoming Melling and RiverLink developments.

In the Harbour Ward, your voices were clear: heritage matters. That’s why repairs to our much-loved wharf and grandstand will soon begin, alongside plans to revamp the library.

The Bays and Eastbourne will benefit greatly from the shared path, and Moera and Korokoro residents — your input will be vital as future roading projects take shape.

Harbour Ward has been my home for decades. I care deeply about ensuring we grow and improve while protecting the character and community spirit that makes this place so special.

I’m excited to stand again and continue representing you with experience, energy, and a strong connection to our shared future.

Tui Lewis

Northern Ward - (2 Vacancies)

Kia ora Northern Ward voters.

I’ve represented the Eastern Ward on council for the past six years. I’ve been responsive and helpful in addressing the concerns and issues of local residents, and taken a lead role in the rejuvenation of community facilities in Naenae, where I live. I’ve worked closely with my community to ensure the best outcomes for us all.

This year I’m standing to represent the expanded Northern Ward in the same way - I’ll make myself available to you, listen and apply community voice, evidence and logic when making decisions.

I’m a knowledgeable, hard-working councillor who chairs the Policy, Finance and Strategy Committee and represents our city on regional committees and forums.

I dream of a Lower Hutt where people, businesses and nature all thrive. As an incumbent councillor, I’ll represent you with commitment, experience and the respect of my colleagues. Please vote for me in 2025.

Andy Mitchell

I'm a two-term councillor standing again for the Northern Ward.

I bring strong governance experience and deep community connections. I currently serve on eight council committees, chair the Traffic Subcommittee, and volunteer across many sport, recreation, and community groups.

Born and raised in Taita, and now living in Stokes Valley for the past 25 years, this part of Te Awa Kairangi is home. I’m excited to see Naenae join our ward through the upcoming boundary changes. After 18 years teaching at Naenae College, I know this community well.

Having two councillors for Stokes Valley, Taita, Pomare, Wingate, Avalon and Naenae means better visibility and stronger advocacy for our northeastern suburbs. I've built lasting relationships here and remain committed to helping our people thrive.

I believe in practical action, people-first decisions, and leadership that stays connected to the communities it serves.

Let’s keep moving forward—together. Vote Naomi Shaw MNZM for Northern Ward.

Naomi Shaw

Central Ward - (2 Vacancies)

My principal place of residence is not in the Central Ward area.

Central Ward needs a representative with experience and first hand knowledge of Council who will make an immediate, positive and independent contribution around the Council table.

Having spent many years as a Councillor and past Chair I will continue to listen and advocate for you the residents. I have worked as Manager for an International company based in central Lower Hutt and continue to be involved in several Community Groups. That, alongside my roles as a J.P. Rotarian and Celebrant has opened the door to in-depth communication with many residents and their needs for our City.

Over recent months I have been approached by ratepayers increasingly concerned over growing rate increases and the impact this is having on their livelihoods.

We need to work together to ensure we have a Council responsible for affordable and accountable spending and a City accessible for all.

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward area.

Hi, I’m Rodney Cook a proud Alicetown local, husband to my beautiful wife Hil for 23 years (we met working on The Lord of the Rings), and dad to our creative son, Jaxson.

This community means the world to us. We’ve built a life full of friendships and great memories here, and now I’m ready to give back.

My background in adventure tourism and the film industry as a stunt performer and action director has taught me to handle big challenges, think creatively, and deliver under pressure.

I’m a positive, hands-on person who loves climbing, hiking, and sailing. I see huge untapped potential in the Hutt and want to help our city thrive by building strong partnerships and new energy.

Let’s support community gardens, local artists, and small businesses through events, pop-ups, and street art. I’m here to listen, pitch in, and make good things happen, together:)

My principal place of residence is not in the Central Ward area.

Nearly 27 years as Hutt News editor put me in contact with most local community groups, government agencies, businesses - and thousands of residents. I’ve built on that experience with a term on council as Central Ward rep, and two terms as a citywide councillor.

I know how the city ticks. I was awarded the MNZM for services to journalism and I use that ability to ask hard questions at the council table.

I’m a strong believer core infrastructure is HCC’s key priority. As Infrastructure chair I have championed fixing the leaking pipes backlog.

3waters reform and the new Metro CCO needs to spark a council reset and forensic financial review, to rein in rates.

Potential savings from amalgamation or more shared services deserve investigation.

Riverlink is a chance to generate local jobs and work with developers to reshape central Hutt as a vibrant hub, enhancing our river environment.

Lets create an inclusive, sustainable future for our city where everyone can thrive.

As a playcentre Mum, a national and local disability leader and advocate with vast experience working in both government and community roles in the disability sector, and as trustee on my charity board Integrated Sport NZ, I am committed to the power of listening to communities, working together and caring for each other.

I believe local governments should focus on what matters most: strong, connected communities, safe and welcoming spaces, thriving local businesses, and decisions made with accountability and transparency.

I believe every voice matters, from our multicultural whānau to our disadvantaged communities and I will strive to amplify and represent them all.

If you want a councillor who is driven to achieve, and prioritises people, planet, and fairness, vote for me. Together we can create a future-focused city where our kids can thrive!

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward area.

The Central Ward has been my home for 32 years. Nichola and I raised our young family in Alicetown before moving closer to Hutt Valley High School. However, starting a local business back then personalised the struggles of our Central Business District.

Therefore in 2007 I joined Hutt City Council and spent 14 exciting years working with community, councillors, businesses, property owners, developers, mana whenua, and partner agencies to lead Lower Hutt’s role in the $1.5 Billion RiverLink Project.

Thereafter in Central Government I provided advice into policy for and delivery of significant housing and urban development projects throughout our beautiful country.

I have a deep interest in what makes cities and communities prosperous, resilient, and characterise who we are as New Zealanders.

Working together and with our partners to align effort and combine limited resources is essential to maximizing value-added-comprehensive outcomes now and for future generations.

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward area.

I am a down-to-earth family man who will be the voice of common sense at the council table.

I know firsthand the issues people face in Lower Hutt, and I want to be part of the solution to making life better.

I will make sure that your hard-earned dollars are being spent the right way. We need to get unnecessary council spending under control and instead focus on what’s important: having clean water, fixing roads and footpaths so they’re accessible for everyone, and making the city beautiful through community gardens and cleaning up graffiti.

We need to have sensible parking fees that encourage people to shop locally. We need to make rates sustainable for our residents, so we don’t force out hardworking people who can’t afford to stay.

A vote for George MacKay is a vote for the future of the Hutt.

Cancellation of Nomination

In accordance with sections 69A and 71 (2) of the Local Electoral Act 2001, I advise that the nomination of Tim McNamara, a candidate for Council in the Central Ward has been cancelled.

The cancellation has been made following application by the candidate that due to suffering serious illness he would be unlikely to be capable of performing the functions and duties of office if elected.

Bruce Hodgins

Electoral Officer

Wainuiomata Ward - (1 Vacancy)

It’s been a privilege to serve as your City Councillor. I’m seeking another term to continue delivering for Wainuiomata. We've made strong progress—our upgraded town centre has attracted new cafes, Mitre 10, and vibrant local businesses.

I’m committed to planning for smart, sustainable growth. That means investing in critical infrastructure, especially water, and backing Local Water Done Well to improve services and reduce rates.

I’ll keep fighting to protect and grow the essential services that keep us safe and well, from health to emergency supports. Upgrades at Wise Park and Hugh Sinclair Park show what we can achieve together.

Wainuiomata’s spirit—our families, schools, and community groups—is unmatched. I’m proud to have helped retain our Community Board and will keep pushing for strong local representation.

I am an experienced Councillor with a strong voice at the Council table, putting Wainuiomata interests at the heart of my role.

Due to resourcing constraints, video recordings were limited to candidates standing for mayor and council only.

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

Kia ora, I’m Elle Abel - an independent candidate committed to inclusive, community-led representation for Wainuiomata.

With over 12 years of youth leadership experience, I’ve worked alongside young people through Girl's Brigade and supported regional events as part of the Wellington Marching Committee. I’m also training to become a judge, helping foster teamwork and confidence in young athletes.

I’ve served on two school boards of trustees, contributing to governance, budgeting, and strategic decisions that put learners first.

Living with invisible disabilities, and as a parent of children with similar needs, I understand the importance of accessibility, empathy, and representation that truly reflects our community.

I believe in listening, showing up, and doing the work. I’m ready to bring that dedication to the Community Board. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Wainuiomata, where every voice is heard, and every person feels they belong.

I’d be honoured to have your vote.

Elle Abel

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

It has been an honour to serve as Deputy Chair of the Wainuiomata Community Board.

When I began this journey, I was a stay-at-home Mum with a toddler on my hip. Like many first-home buyers, my husband Rex and I were drawn to Wainuiomata by our budget - now we stay because of the strength and spirit of this incredible community.

As a part-time insurance claims specialist, I bring practical, real-world experience to local issues.

I’m proud to have helped successfully oppose the proposed disestablishment of our Community Board, protecting Wainuiomata’s voice at the table. As an experienced governor and dedicated Community Board leader, I’m committed to building on our progress and delivering more for our community.

We all deserve a stronger, safer, and a more connected Wainuiomata. I will continue working to build strong, constructive relationships between residents and council to help make that happen.

Through our Pataka we have seen the generosity of Wainuiomata people and I love serving our community this way.

I don’t shy away from talking about the hard issues but do so professionally and with respect.

I will work with the council for better delivery of services and hold them to account and advocate for improvements in processes as needed.

I believe strongly in the feedback loop when you report something you should get updates and know the outcome of your issue. I enjoy football, woodworking, the gym and whanau time. I look forward to connecting with you!

Daniel Chrisp

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

Four years ago I moved to Wainuiomata with my family. We feel lucky to live close to the coast and native bush.

Separate from the city, but close enough to be connected to the wider community and everything we need by buses and safe streets.

I'm studying at Victoria University of Wellington, where next year I'll complete a degree in Environmental Studies and Statistics.

Through this, and volunteering with community organisations I've gained a deeper care for our environment and informed decision making. Through involvement in campaigns to support my communities, I’ve developed the skills to advocate for positive change.

I understand the power of collective action, and the importance of listening to others and working towards a shared vision for the future.

If you share my vision for Wainuiomata leading the way on conservation and collaborative decision making, I'd be honoured to receive your vote for community board.

 COLLIER-FOLEY, Simeon

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

I have lived in Wainuiomata for almost two years. I’m the proud grandmother of four, ranging in age from 3 to 15 years old.

I work as an accountant for a charity focused on making a difference to the lives of Māori women.

Previously, I worked as an accountant for Hutt City for 11 years.

I’ve been actively involved in the Lions community, both here in Wainuiomata and previously with Rimutaka Lions, supporting local initiatives and community events.

I am standing for the Wainuiomata Community Board because I want to make a positive, practical difference.

I am passionate about our environment, improving youth spaces, supporting local businesses, backing families and ensuring our elderly feel safe and included.

I bring financial expertise and a genuine commitment to service. I’m approachable and committed to making Wainuiomata an even better place to live. I would be honoured to represent and serve our community.

Sharon Page

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

Tēnā koutou katoa, He uri ahau nō Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Kuia, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, me Rangitāne ki Wairau.

Born and raised in Wainuiomata, this is my home. It’s where my grandparents built their first whare, where my parents met and raised us, and where I’m raising my daughter.

Wainuiomata is diverse, creative and vibrant—we deserve community board members who truly advocate for us.

I bring skills across many areas: alumni of Victoria University, te reo Māori speaker, board member at Konini Primary, kaimahi at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Toastmaster, and worker at our local kōhanga reo.

My heart is grounded in kaupapa that uplift our people. I believe in the power of local voices shaping local solutions. I’m standing to serve with integrity, connection and action—mā tātou katoa, for all of us.

PULEKAUTAHA-LAI, Nohokainga

My principal place of residence is in the Wainuiomata Community Board area.

I’m running for the Wainuiomata Community Board because I believe in community-led action and collaborative leadership.

Our whānau have lived in Wainuiomata for the past 10 years. My daughter attends Wainuiomata High School and my son goes to kōhanga reo, where I proudly serve as Chair of Upoko ā Urunga Kōhanga Reo.

As the former Coordinator of Love Wainuiomata, I worked with others to make a real difference - including managing the project that brought the Wainuiomata welcome sign to life.

I’m a community organiser, trade unionist, and sports broadcaster with a strong track record of working across the community to get things done.

I’m standing because I want a more active Community Board - one that shows up, listens, and leads with heart. I know that to deliver real outcomes, we need to build meaningful relationships, not just hold positions. That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring.

Anaru Ryall

Talofa lava, I’m deeply committed to serving Wainuiomata through sport, education, and civic engagement.

With extensive experience at Hutt City Council and returning to my roots as a teacher at Wainuiomata High School, I bring a wealth of knowledge and dedication to our community.

I currently serve on the WHS Board of Trustees and the Ulalei Netball Komiti. I hold a BA from Victoria University and a recipient of the Wainuiomata Spirit Award for community service, Volunteer and Administrator of the Year awards for Netball Hutt Valley.

Over the years, I’ve coached various local sport teams particularly for school aged children and run free weekly fitness classes at WHS gym. I’ve connected sports to the wider community through ANZAC Day parade, Matariki, community tree planting, and fundraising for Cancer Society’s Relay4Life.

With strong local ties and council experience, I’m dedicated to ensuring Wainuiomata has a voice—especially for our rangatahi.

Of proud Samoan descent - my father from Moata’a and my mother from Lepa - I was raised in Wainuiomata.

After 14 years working in Auckland and the UK, I returned home where I now live with my wife Melesete and our three tamaiti.

I am standing for election to the Community Board to continue serving the community I love.

I will listen closely, put the needs of all our people first, and work collaboratively for the good of our beautiful hometown.

I’m a mum of two and a long-time Wainuiomata resident, proud to call this community home.

I’ve supported local whānau through initiatives like the Te Awakairangi School Stationery Drive and served on the Wainuiomata Primary School Board—because I believe in helping others, and collaborative, locally-led solutions.

As Co-Chair of Love Wainuiomata, I’ve worked to amplify our voice at Hutt City Council and ensure our community’s needs are heard. Wainuiomata is the second-largest suburb in the Hutt Valley, and we deserve strong, active representation that keeps our voices front and centre.

As the region grows and faces major infrastructure and planning challenges, I’ll advocate to ensure Wainuiomata gets the services and support we need—without being lost in the noise of wider developments.

I’m committed to deepening community engagement this triennium and championing those who live, work, and raise whānau here. Our voice. Our place. Our future.

WOONTON RAWIRI, Mailena

Eastbourne Community Board - (5 Vacancies)

We live in an incredibly unique part of the world. A community that thrives in its surroundings with the sea on one side and hills steeped in native forest on the other. A community where parents feel safe enough to allow their children to explore our natural wonders.

I am putting myself forward to serve as a member of the Eastbourne Community Board to help preserve what we are so lucky to have as a community.

While I have a vision for what future Eastbourne will look like, if elected, my plan is to listen and share the views of everyone within our community through the Eastbourne Community Board and ensure visibility and most importantly accountability with the Hutt City Council.

Jeremy Chaston

I am excited to stand again for the Community Board and Represent the citizens of Eastbourne and the Bays.

With the Shared Path due to be completed in 2026 and the Gollians Valley Farm joining The Regional Park these are exciting times and we will need experienced voices to deal with a new Council.

Murray Gibbons

As a Lowry Bay resident, I'm standing to bring a fresh perspective to our Community Board. At 37, and having grown up in Lower Hutt, I have deep roots here and a strong commitment to our community's future.

My focus is a 'back-to-basics' approach, ensuring you get value for your rates. I will provide diligent oversight of the Tupua Horo Nuku project. I will take particular interest in any proposed District Plan or zoning changes and work hard to reflect our community’s views on these matters back to Council.

I believe in common-sense and fiscal prudence. I am committed to working constructively on your behalf, ensuring our community's interests are effectively represented. I ask for your vote to bring this accountable and energetic voice to the Eastbourne Community Board.

Ben Hainsworth

I am Emily Keddell, seeking a second term on the Eastbourne Community Board because experienced voices matter.

When Council tried to abolish community boards we fought back and preserved Eastbourne’s representation; that memory will keep Council engaged and accountable.

During this term I launched the Eastbourne Youth Forum, supported our youth group, and organised volunteers who extended the summer pool season even when council focus wavered.

My focus now is strengthening the youth voice, building upon the emergency resilience across the Bays and continuing to bring awareness to the implications of new hazard layers on LIMs to the local community.

Next term I will guard our hard‑won gains, run a smooth pool season, and work with Council officers so decisions reflect Eastbourne realities from day one.

Having raised my family here and volunteered widely, I know our community’s hopes and challenges. With your vote we can keep Eastbourne thriving.

Emily Keddell

I value our unique community and want to preserve its character while helping to adapt to our changing world. My areas of focus have included developing community resilience, recycling, accessibility and inclusiveness, addressing environmental and climate change issues, and promoting active recreation for the wellbeing of our community.

I will continue to work for safe cycling and walking access right through to Burdan’s Gate and developing Eastern Bays emergency preparedness.

An informed community is more resilient, so supporting and providing timely information through our website, digital noticeboard, emails and other channels is also a priority.

I value the support I’ve been given, and have benefited from working with a great team. I’m standing again to provide some continuity to our representation which the community worked hard to keep.

I look forward to representing the interests of our community in the future.
