Refurbishment of Community Facilities
Keep up to date with the refurbishment of our community facilities.
Remedial work being carried out on the Wainuiomata Memorial Hall is expected to be completed in April 2022. Due to multiple supply issues and additional complications on the site there have been delays to the original scheduled completion.
- Cutting and welding portals and plates
- Completing concrete formwork for plinths
- Removing and replacing rotten joists
- Removing asbestos, treating steel and replacing skirting boards
- Laying and finishing two layers of flooring.
Naenae Library will be closing for refurbishment from Good Friday 15 April and a pop-up library will be set up in the Treadwell Street Hall from 26 April.
The work includes new windows, interior painting and upgrades to wiring, electrical, security & fire systems. This continues the work we are doing across our library network to update and freshen up our libraries as some of our most popular community spaces.
Work is expected to take up to 10 weeks and it will be available for the community to hire out after hours once finished.
Detailed design work is now underway for the refurbishment of Moera Library. This includes both maintenance of existing spaces and some improvements to ensure the building meets the changing needs of those who use it, expressed through engagement with the community. Construction set to begin mid-2022 once a contractor is engaged.
Parts of Petone Library and Heritage Centre are currently closed due to toxic mould. Council is working with the Petone Community Board on a plan for engagement with the wider community.
Exterior painting at Eastbourne Library has been completed.
A range of work to be completed on the War Memorial Library is expected to start late-2022. This includes HVAC, lighting, rewiring, and fire systems.
Exterior painting of Moera Hall and the Community House will commence November 2022.
