Refurbishment of Community Facilities

Keep up to date with the refurbishment of our community facilities.

Remedial work being carried out on the Wainuiomata Memorial Hall in 2022 is complete.

Work included:

  • Cutting and welding portals and plates
  • Completing concrete formwork for plinths
  • Removing and replacing rotten joists
  • Removing asbestos, treating steel and replacing skirting boards
  • Laying and finishing two layers of flooring.

Naenae Library's refurbishment was completed in 2022.

The work included new windows, interior painting and upgrades to wiring, electrical, security & fire systems. This continues the work we are doing across our library network to update and freshen up our libraries as some of our most popular community spaces.

Detailed design work has been carried out at Moera Library for maintenance and for improvements identified by the community. Construction is expected to get underway in early 2023.

Parts of Petone Library and Heritage Centre are currently closed due to toxic mould, although this does not impact the delivery of core library services. The building also experiences significant leaks in heavy rain. Council has worked with the Petone Community Board to get community input on how the facility could be used in future. This will be further considered in early 2023.

Exterior painting at Eastbourne Library has been completed.

Exterior painting of Moera Hall and the Community House will commence in February 2023.
