Be part of making our city more accessible and age-friendly

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from people who would like to join a new Age and Accessibility Advisory Group.

The group will provide advice to Council, through the Age and Accessibility Sub-committee, on issues affecting older and disabled people in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt, helping to make our city more inclusive, accessible, and age-friendly.

Members will bring lived experience perspectives to discussions on Council planning, policies, projects, and services, helping shape decisions that affect the wider community.

Council is looking for people who:

  • live in Lower Hutt
  • are 65+ and/or have lived experience of disability
  • are well connected to communities and networks
  • have an interest in accessibility and inclusion
  • can contribute constructively in a group environment.

Applications are encouraged from people with a diverse range of backgrounds, identities, experiences, and communities.

The Advisory Group is expected to meet around four times a year. Accessibility supports and alternative application formats are available on request.
