Inaugural NZ Pie Fest coming to Lower Hutt

The festival will run indoors from 10am–10:30pm daily, bringing together bakeries from around New Zealand alongside music and entertainment across all three days.

Each participating bakery will showcase one signature pie, baked fresh on site. Festival-goers will be able to taste their way through the line-up before deciding who should take home the inaugural People’s Pie title. Every paid entry ticket includes a vote, putting the decision in the hands of the public rather than a judging panel.

The full bakery and entertainment line-up will be revealed on 10 November 2026.

Hutt City Mayor Ken Laban says he is excited to see the first NZ Pie Fest hosted in Lower Hutt.

“It’s great to have the first NZ Pie Fest right here in Lower Hutt. Events like this bring people together and give us another chance to show what our city has to offer.

“Pies are part of Kiwi life and everybody loves a good pie. I’m looking forward to seeing people coming together at Walter Nash Centre for three days of food, music and fun.”

NZ Pie Fest Founder and Chief Executive Daniel Rosas says Lower Hutt is a natural home for the festival’s first edition.

“NZ Pie Fest is about celebrating something that is genuinely part of Kiwi culture, while bringing some incredible bakeries together under one roof.

“Walter Nash Centre gives us the opportunity to create a complete indoor festival experience, with Taitā Station just a four-minute walk away. We’re excited to bring the first edition to Lower Hutt and, most importantly, to see which pie the public chooses as the first People’s Pie.”

Signature pies are $7.50 each.

Children under five attend free with their own ticket.

Limited free parking will be available during the event.
