Lower Hutt will come alive with music, culture, colour and community events throughout September.
Lower Hutt Mayor Ken Laban says September is shaping up to be a lively month as spring arrives.
“Whether you want to hear live music, experience different cultures, get active or enjoy a day out with the family, there is something here for you.
“These events bring people together and bring our neighbourhoods to life. They also give locals and visitors another reason to get out, explore Lower Hutt and support local businesses”
The city’s events lineup includes:
- Sounds by the Awa Vol 3, 12 September, 11am-2pm at Wainuiomata Neighbourhood Hub. A free, whānau-friendly celebration featuring local musicians and cultural performers.
- Living in Colour Pride Event, 19 September, 5.30pm-8.30pm at The Dowse Art Museum. Celebrate Pride with performances, workshops, local kai, face painting, a photo booth and more at this free event.
- Hutt Half Marathon Run and Walk, 20 September, Hutt Central. Take on a 5km, 10km or half marathon, plus a special event for kids. Booking essential.
- Multifest, 20 September, 2pm-8pm at Lower Hutt Town Hall. Taste food from around the world and enjoy cultural performances, arts, crafts and fashion. Free admission.
- Moonlit Memories, Moon Festival, 26 September, 10am-4pm at Te Mako Naenae Community Centre. This free family event where Vietnamese traditions come alive. It includes lion dance, live performances, food stalls, mooncake making, lanterns, crafts and face painting.
Mayor Laban says what’s great about these events is the variety.
“You can celebrate our cultures, discover local talent, get active or simply spend time together as a whānau.
“Many events are free too, making it easy for people to get involved and enjoy what Lower Hutt has to offer.”
