Making it easier to update your dog’s details

We’re working with local vets to reduce the paperwork for dog owners in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt.

Now, with your permission, your participating vet can send us your dog’s details directly — things like microchip numbers, desexing certificates, or even a notification if your dog has sadly passed away. If your vet is participating, that means:

  • Automatically receiving the correct registration discounts for microchipping, vaccinations and desexing
  • No more hunting for old certificates
  • No more updating vaccination details
  • No more letters or emails after a pet has passed away
  • No extra forms or calls to Hutt City Council

We’ll automatically apply the correct registration fee if we have the right info. You just need to give your vet permission to share your dog’s details with us. For all other changes regarding ownership, change of address or registration please contact Animal Services.

Vets currently participating in this initiative are:

  • CareVets, Wainuiomata
  • Valley Cottage Vets, Stokes Valley

We’ll also be giving participating vets flyers and guides to pass on to new dog owners, so you’ve got the info you need from day one.
